Vote Reports

May 7, 2014

Maryland Legislative Watch is please to present reports comparing the votes of each party’s leadership to its members. There are eight reports being published at this time; 4 for the 2014 session and 4 for the 2013 session.

All reports compare the percentage for votes in common. This means that only bills that both an individual legislator and chamber leader voted are included as it is not fair to compare total numbers without taking into account absences.

8. Report for 2013 session comparing legislature members against the Republican chamber leader, sorted by name.

All data used in these reports is based on data publically available on the Maryland State Legislative web site (http://mgaleg.maryland.gov).

All votes used in the comparison are for third reading votes, the final vote on a bill. No amendment, special orders or committee votes are included.

The breakout of the non-county delegation bills has been done as, while “nay” votes do occur, they are comparatively rare as most county delegation bills are passed unanimously as a matter of form. It is considered rude to vote “nay” on another county’s delegation bill.
